Beach House

This band consists of lead singer and keyboardist Victoria Legrand and guitarist Alex Scally. Together they come up with some of the best indie/dream pop jams of this era. With three atmospheric and amazing albums, this band should be recognized by music fans everywhere. This is a landmark band. I am glad to see that they are getting a bit more recognition from celebrities such as Aziz Ansari, who mentioned that they are one of his favorite bands. Justice is served.

The Mist (Black and White Version)

This film, based on the Steven King novella, is underrated to begin with. The black and white version is even more underrated. With extremely strong performances and intense situations, this film stands as one of most memorable recent horror films. It will creep you out how easily people turn on each other in extreme situations. Does that sound like a story from "The Twilight Zone"? You bet. This movie captures the spirit of smart and terrifying dialogue of the black and white era. Hence, this is the superior way to view the film. You could find this version on the two disc collectors edition of the film. Justice is served for today.

Ra Ra Riot

This indie band from Syracuse, New York is becoming well known in indie circles. They deserve to be recognized. They have two great albums and a lively stage presence. I love string instruments, and they are present in all of their music. The arrangements are wonderful. This is such an amazing band. Justice has been served.

Weeds Season 2 Finale

I recently started watching "Weeds" on netflix and it is a really enjoyable show. Few finales have left off with such great cliffhangers as "Weeds" season had. This show will hook you by the second season. Give it some time to develop. It's worth getting to the second season finale leading into season three. I don't want to give anything else away. Justice is served for today.

Abbott and Costello

My friend Mike said "There's gotta be something right going on if an act never gets old" when referring to Abbott and Costello. I realized that everyone who loves this comedy team knows how to appreciate true comedy. They don't dismiss great comedy because of the time period that it came out in. Luckily, my Grandfather introduced me to them. Perhaps it's time you see all of their films and shows because I'm sure you will be surprised by how great these guys were together. They were deserving icons of an era. An era that understood how to appreciate true talent. Justice is served for today.

Ed Wood (Film)

I wanted to highlight this film because I really enjoy the message that it gives us. It shows that sometimes it could be fulfilling to follow your dreams even when all of the odds are against you. This is a very tragic tale though when it comes down to it. This is my favorite Johnny Depp film, and one of my favorite Tim Burton films also. Yes, there is no doubt that Wood's films are iconic B movies, but this film makes you feel awful for him. His persistence is perhaps what he should be remembered for. He was successful for being remembered because here we are talking about him today (R.I.P.). We can't forget Martin Landau's amazing performance as Bela Lugosi. He is perfect. This is a quirky film that fits in the universe of Wood's films. This is such a great film. Justice is served.

Keane

After their single "Somewhere Only We Know", many people didn't look into all of the other music that this band put out. Let me say that everything that they released was always wonderful indie material. If you fell off the Keane train then you need to catch up on what this band has been up to. They got back together after a serious indefinite hiatus and made an amazing third album. They released an experimental EP last year titled "Night Train", which had some good stuff on it. Their full length albums show how great they are though. Justice is served for today.

Peanut Butter filled Pretzel Bites

These are just about the most addicting snacks on the planet. You seriously can't just have one. Anyone who has had these will probably agree. Next time you are at the grocery store, maybe think about grabbing some. This is the perfect party snack. Justice is served.

Radiohead: "The King of Limbs"

Yesterday, Radiohead's new album dropped online for nine dollars on their website. This band needs to be commended on not only releasing another outstanding album, but for announcing it only a few days before the release. This was a pleasant surprise. So far, the reviews have been mixed, but I find this album to be nearly perfect. It picks up with the band sounding as smooth as they did on tracks such as "15 Step" and "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi". So far the songs "Bloom" and "Lotus Flower" are sticking out to me, but much like every other Radiohead album, this one takes multiple listens to fully sink in. Justice is served.

The League

This fantasy football comedy is surprisingly clever and doesn't require viewers to have football knowledge. It is basically a bunch of guys and a wife making fun of each other. Don't get me wrong, football fans also enjoy this show I've noticed, so it's probably pretty accurate with game stats. This is a great blend of comedians showing off their talents. The stories are great and the jokes are all laugh out loud funny. This is a show that you will likely enjoy. Bring out the nachos and dip because justice is served.

The Paper Brigade

This used to be my favorite summer movie of all time. It is surprisingly clever and fun. Yes, it's a kids movie, but I used to have so much fun watching it with my Grandma. It brings back good memories that other 90's kids probably also have about this film. It is a forgotten film that deserves to be talked about again. Kyle Howard is great in it. Not to mention, Robert Englund is in it. I need to find this movie to own very soon. Justice is served.

Mr. Sunshine

I have a hunch that this quirky show is going somewhere. With an oddball cast and an interesting balance of personalities, I think this show will make it. The show relies on the talent to Mathew Perry for the most part. He successfully shows his comedic timing. As my friend Bryan says, "A show that is going to be good should pick up by the third episode.". Next episode will be the determinant. So far I really enjoy it. Justice has been served for today.

Doxillion Document Converter

I just learned about this free document converter two days ago. It is going to be extremely helpful in my future. Say you get emailed an attachment that is unreadable and shows up as numbers in your word processing program. With this program, this will no longer be a problem. You drag the unreadable file into the program and convert the file into the file type that your word program will be able to read. This is a clever and helpful tool that is very similar to music and video file converters. Great stuff. Justice has been served for today.

Black Kids

This band has perfected the art of recreating an era. Their first album "Partie Traumatic" is just a lot of fun. For an album that came out in 2008, it really sounds like it was released in 1984 for most of it's duration. That is a great thing. I respect them for how dead on the execution of the songs are. With a new album possibly coming out this year, this is the perfect time to get into this band. Just great music. Justice is served. Love love love me already.

Funny People

Upon being a part of a team that made a drama that people weren't in the right mindset for, I have more respect for Judd Apatow's film. It was the film that he felt that he needed to make at that point in this life. I couldn't respect that more. It is really a realistic and well made film. It's about time that people forget that it was marketed wrong and enjoy Apatow's vision. Seth Rogen proved himself to be a great lead actor here for me. Great performances all around.  Justice is served for today.

Sorority Boys

Walace Wallodarsky's raunchy comedy was forgotten without good reason. With funny actors (Harland Williams, Michael Rosenbaum, Barry Watson) and a surprisingly clever execution of the old "Guys pretending to be girls" story, this movie is very much worth watching. Justice is served.

Noah and the Whale

This band threw many people off with their shift in tone between their first two albums, but it should be noted that their second album was an important one. "The Days of Spring" really showed the band coming together both musically and lyrically. It tells a love story that is not cheesy or overdramatic. With a new album coming out soon, titled "Last Night On Earth", I'm hoping that they will be able to make more of an impact on the music scene. They deserve to be recognized as a smart band. Justice is served.

Dracula, Dead and Loving It

The combination of Mel Brooks and Leslie Nielsen (R.I.P.) is a modern classic comedy match up. This is a smart film that does for "Dracula" what "Young Frankenstein" did for it's counterpart. Brooks goes further than your usual spoof and you could tell that he loved classic monster films. There are a good number of jokes that required you to see the 1931 version of "Dracula". Justice is served. Listen to the children of the night. What music they make.

Perfect Couples

This NBC comedy has unfortunately looked mediocre in the previews. Little do people know how funny the show actually is. The characters provide a good balance of personalities and the humor is broad. This should be a breakout series for the cast, who has been consistently entertaining since the show started. Please don't let this one slip and become canceled. It's a smart show that deserves to stay on the air for while. Just watch a couple episodes and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Justice is served for the day.

The Mouse That Roared

This hilarious Peter Sellers film sees him playing multiple characters, a formula that was proven to be funny in "Dr. Strangelove". He plays a soldier of a little town that declares war on the U.S.. He also plays the queen that sends the soldiers into war. This may sound like a suicide mission, but the overconfident soldiers have no problem with it. This is a very funny film that is campy at times, but is a must see for any fans of Sellers. One of my favorites. Justice is served.

Apples to Apples

I recently purchased this board game. I can't believe I didn't already have it. This is surefire fun for a crowd of people. It is seldom mentioned when people talk about their favorite board games. People don't know how funny this game is. Justice is served for today.

The Baxter

Michael Showalter directed and acted in this underrated romantic comedy that is superior to many romantic comedies that are out there. The story is hilarious and the situations are meaningful and funny. I don't want to give away any of the surprises, you have to see this for yourself. The word baxter also has a very clever meaning. I'll leave that joke for the movie to tell. Michael Showalter, Michael Ian Black, and David Wain have always been a part of great underrated projects ("Stella", "Michael and Michal Have Issues"), and "The Baxter" shouldn't be overlooked, nor should any of those projects. Justice is served. Baja Cousine!

Flight Of the Conchords

This musical comedy duo of Brett McKenzie and Jermaine Clement deserves much recognition as comedic genius. The two had their own television series for two seasons. It was a unique show that deserved the critical praise that it received. I'm sure that they will eventually come out with some new songs, but in the mean time, this gives everyone a chance to catch up of this duo on the rise. Justice is served. It's business time.

Top Secret!

Everyone knows about "Airplane!", and "The Naked Gun" films, but this comedic masterpiece is very underrated. The Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker team arguably invented this "gag" genre that films like "Vampires Suck" try to copy today, and fail miserably at. "Top Secret!" is a perfect satire of  "50's and 60's rock and roll star meets action movies" (In the style of an Elvis film). I can't begin to describe how clever the gags are in this film. If you love goofy humor, and can't stand the garbage that comes out these days in this genre, then this film is for you. Justice is served.

"Don't You Just Hate That" by Scott Cohen

This mini pocket book contains 738 things that are annoying in everyday life. Cohen is hilarious and true. He is dead on with so many of these annoying things. For me, this was a must have. It's a crowd pleaser. So many of my friends find this book to be fascinating. Cohen is very smart at making observations about everyday life. It's basically a guarantee that you will enjoy this book. Justice has been served for today.

The Rumble Strips

When it comes to fun British indie-rock, many people have heard of "The Kaiser Chiefs". Yes they are great, but I feel like The Rumble Strips deserve more praise. The song "Girls and Boys In Love" is gaining popularity, but their album "Welcome to the Walk Alone" is nearly perfect and should be known by more indie fans. They are able to capture a spirit on their albums that few bands succeed at. Their albums are consistently great also. I can't wait for their third release. If they keep up the progression that they have been working on, their next release will surely turn a lot of heads. Justice is served.

The Boxer Rebellion (Band)

Aside from the controversial band name based on a historic tragedy, this is quite a wonderful band. Their third album, "The Cold Still", was released yesterday. They make beautiful indie rock, but you have to hear them for yourself. I would start with the songs "We Have This Place Surrounded" and "Never Knowing How or Why". You will likely want to get all of their stuff. Their are a ton of surprising songs across their three albums. Justice has been served for today.

Human Giant

The combination of comedians Aziz Ansari, Paul Scheer, and Rob Hubel is unbelievable. Their sketches are outrageous and impossible not to laugh at. Season 1 has been available on dvd for a while, but season 2 is nowhere to be found. I hope this means that they are going to come back to the show at some point, and they are waiting to release the second season until then. This may be wishful thinking, but it is something that all fans of the show are waiting for. Justice is served. Mind Explosion!
