Hi, I'm Bryan Kastelan. I felt compelled to make a blog that highlights something each day that I feel is underrated. The objects could be anything. Hope you enjoy and possibly agree with my choices. If not, then hopefully you found something cool to check out that you never heard of. Thanks for checking out my blog!

Murder By Death
This 1976 murder mystery spoof is dead on in many aspects. The casting was amazing. It was very interesting to see Peter Sellers and David Niven reunited twelve years after "The Pink Panther". The jokes are very clever thanks to the top notch writing by Neil Simon. Peter Falk, Truman Capote and Alec Guinness are just some of the others that are in on the fun. This is a smart and groundbreaking film that fans of spoofs and satires need to see. A very smart film. Justice is served. With a thing like that in his back, in the long run, he's better off.

The Ricky Gervais Show
Let me start off by saying that this is really the Karl Pilkington show, with Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant egging Karl on, so to speak. Never the less, this show grows on you to the point where you could listen to these guys talk all day. The radio show was brilliant and transitioned well into the HBO animated series that is currently on. Pilkington is on his own plane of reality, while Gervais and Merchant are amazingly sarcastic towards him. After you see or hear a few episodes, you will become addicted to their humor. Great stuff. Justice is served for the day. I think that Rebecca De Mornay and Clive Warren would make a good leading couple.

Sucker Punch
When I go to see a film in theaters, I expect to be blown away and have a fun time. Zack Snyder knows how to deliver a great movie-going experience. He could make a popcorn film that is smart. I don't know why anyone would give this film a bad review, unless they just don't understand how to have fun at the movies. Snyder's story is amazing, and could not be done without a perfect cast, led by the very talented Emily Browning. She brings an innocence to the film that compliments the ass kicking very well. I was glad to see her in the main role. My friend Bryan and I discussed earlier this week that she was very good in films such as "A Series of Unfortunate Events" and "The Uninvited". The supporting cast was very strong also. The casting was perfect all around. Bravo to everyone involved. Justice is served for the day. And remember, if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

The Switch
I have to say that I was very surprised by the chemistry between Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston. They were the perfect pairing. This film was such a surprise. The story was original and allowed Bateman to really show off his comedic talent as well as showing how likable of a leading actor he could be. The supporting cast was great. Jeff Goldbloom and Patrick Wilson were very good (They were also just in "Morning Glory" together. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not). The directors showed that they could make a great comedy in different styles, since they also directed the Will Ferrell comedy "Blades Of Glory". Great job all around. This was a very moving and unique film. Justice is served for the day. It was part of my master plan to get her out of my life forever.

Date Night (2010 Film)
The pairing of Steve Carell and Tina Fey was a brilliant idea. Shawn Levy who directed the film is a great comedic director in my opinion. He knows how to make a movie fun for the audience. The two comedians actually get to show off their talents in a scripted film. It seems that they were luckily aloud to improvise. This is such a fun movie. When it came out last summer, I was overjoyed upon watching it. More people need to see that this film is one of the landmark comedies of this era because it showcases two of the most brilliant comedians of the time, and not to mention a very fun supporting cast. Bravo. Justice is served for today. You put your junk in reverse.

American Dreamz
I saw this movie when it came out at a screening and I laughed the entire time. Some people didn't understand or enjoy the satire of the U.S.. I thought the film took fresh risks and was actually a well made film compared to spoofs like "Vampires Suck". If you read my blog, you know I hate those movies made by two of the six writers of "Scary Movie". The performances are really spot on. Mandy Moore really stuck out as a good comedic actress to me in this film. Justice is served. American Dreamz, dreams with a z.

Adventureland (2009 Film)
Greg Motolla has a knack for making the audience feel like they are in the moment of the film. In my opinion, this is his best film I have seen so far. He directed "Paul", so I'll have to see it soon. The cast is amazing. This is why I personally feel that Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart are two of the greatest actors of this time. I bet that many would argue that they don't care for Stewart because of the "Twilight" buzz, but this really proves her talent. I have always thought that she was very talented. You could tell that Motolla really put his heart into this film. It is really a perfect film. There is a theme park near me that this film reminded me of. This movie felt so real, I could practically feel the breeze of the summer nights. Just an amazing movie. Justice is served. Oh yeah, Lisa P. is back.

The Strokes: "Angles"
Maybe it will take a couple of weeks for everyone to realize that this legendary band is actually back. What looked like a band that split up for good, is back and just as great as ever. With hooks that remind me of their earlier work, and intricate guitar parts, this is just about their most mature work to date. Yeah, its not as groundbreaking as "Is This It?", but cut them some slack. They are offering some of the best music going. Personally, I like it just as much as "Is This It?". I'm glad that one of the most outstanding bands of my time have returned with fun grooves. This could definitely be everyones favorite summer album. Justice is served. Yes, This Is It.

Secret Window
This thriller is based on Stephen King's short story 'Secret Window, Secret Garden". Everyone forgot how great John Turturro and Johnny Depp are together. Some of their best work. The film is intense and delivers some chilling scenes. It just fell off the face of the Earth a couple years later. Maybe it should be shown on T.V. so people who didn't see will be intrigued by the captivating plot. Justice is served. You stole my story.

Fact Checkers Unit
This NBC web show is very original and very funny. Each episode is about five minutes long and involves two columnists from a tabloid magazine that must track down celebrities to make sure that what they publish is actually true. Season 1 was a lot of fun to watch and had some laugh out loud funny cameos. I'm afraid it may have been canceled, but hopefully they will make some more episodes so that it may become more popular and stay running. Here is the link: www.nbc.com/fact-checkers-unit

Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine
Yes, this may be the hardest N64 game ever, but it is certainly a good game. What starts out frustrating as all get out, ends up becoming a rewarding game in the end with very interesting levels. It is a smart game. I am a huge Indiana Jones fan so I was excited to play this game. This game is not very popular though. It should have been an N64 classic. Justice is served. Why did it have to be snakes?

Blue Moon Ice Cream
Probably because of its lack of popularity, Perry's Ice Cream decided to discontinue this type in my area. As soon as I cross the border to different states, they have it. I want it back so bad. It consists of blue ice cream that is similar to cotton candy, but not as sweet, with chunks of pineapple in it. It is the perfect combination. This is something that more people need to try before Perry's discontinues it all around. Justice is served. I wish this ice cream was served here also.

Ruby Red Squirt
Does anyone remember this type of Squirt? In my opinion, it tasted even better than the original soft drink. It is definitely better than the Cranberry flavored version. I always wondered why it was discontinued. Probably because it wasn't very popular. That is such a shame. They need to bring it back, even if it means having like a two month trial of it to see if people will buy it. Justice is served for the day.

Rush Hour 3 (Disc 2)
Yeah, the movie wasn't groundbreaking, but I enjoyed it. The second disc may be groundbreaking though. There is about 5 hours of extras that are highlighted by a day to day video diary. This diary is not narrated or anything, but in fact sees everyone in action. Bret Ratner went beyond with the extras here. I think more movies should have extras that actually show what the people are like to work with on the set. It looks like they had a blast making the film. Justice is served.

Let Me In
This is top notch child acting. What else could you expect after seeing Chloe Grace Moretz in "Kick Ass"? This is a moving and haunting film that will stick with you long after its over, and that's a good thing. This is by far one of the greatest horror movies of the century so far. It's outstanding for a remake (Swedish horror film "Let The Right One In"). Not to mention, it marks the return of "Hammer Films". They were best known for their horror films although they did indeed make films of other genres early on. Its a shame that this didn't make much money at the box office. People need to understand how outstanding it is. Justice is knocking. You need to invite it in.

A Fine Frenzy
Alison Sudol is a great songwriter. She stood out to me because I enjoy creative minor key changes that are usually found in indie rock. She makes songs that some have described as haunting and lovely. I very much agree with those statements. She has a new album coming out this summer that will no doubt be great in my opinion. Sudol is set apart from her counterparts because of her wonderful voice and knack for coming up with stunning chord changes. Bravo. Justice has been served for the day.

Its Kind of a Funny Story (2010 Film)
In my opinion, this is the film that sums up the feelings of my generation. It touches upon the pressures that this era has put on teens and adults alike. I loved this. It was nearly perfect and was very fun to watch. The montages in the film are unique and clever. This is a great coming of age film, a la "The Breakfast Club". What a surprise this movie was. More people need to see it. This film could be compared to "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" also. Amazing performances all around. Justice is served.

Donkey Kong Country Returns
More people should be in awe of how great Nintendo improved on the original series. I absolutely love the other series, but this game looks great. I'm glad that they revived my all time favorite video game. I had to mention this game because I'm excited to finally get a chance to beat it today. If you love the original "Donkey Kong Country" then you probably feel my excitement. Everyone else is probably saying "What is he so hyped up about?". Play this game and you'll see how addicting it is. There's your justice for today.

Candace Bailey
The new co-host of G4's "Attack of the Show" is perfect for the show. I thought that I would disapprove because of how much I like Olivia Munn, but this is the perfect gig for Candace, who fits right in after already hosting some shows on Nick a few years back. Good luck Candace! I think she will be a huge icon soon. Justice is served.

Midlake
This is a band that likes to change styles from album to album. Unfortunately, people don't always appreciate their changes. I now understand that no matter what type of music they play, they are always top notch. With three great albums, more people should listen to this band. Hopefully their fourth album will gain them some more popularity, because they really deserve it. In the mean time, you could listen to all of their great material. Justic has been served.

The Wombats
These guys really impressed me today. I was already a big fan of them, but I just saw their music video for "Jump Into the Fog" and it was really apparent to me that these guys are bringing their act to the next level. On top of that, the album artwork for their upcoming album was done by Storm Thorgorson, who has done iconic artwork for "Pink Floyd". I think that their second album will show how great they can be. I'll have to see in April, but in the mean time, I'll have to go back to their other material. Justice is served for the day.

Noah and the Whale: "Last Night On Earth"
With a very cool concept and amazing hooks, Noah and the Whale have hit the spot. It's nice to see that they jumped back into some upbeat stuff. I loved their second album, but I'm glad it wasn't just a copy of that. I have mentioned this band before, but they really surprised me again. They deserve all of the fame that "Mumford and Sons" are seeing. They are a clever band that are truly one of my favorites. Justice is served. L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.

The Skeleton Key
This is a genuinely creepy film that is often overlooked when it comes to the most original horror films so far this century. This is my favorite Kate Hudson performance. She is able to keep you invested in the story. This has some jump scares, but relies more on a scary concept that will stick with you long after the film is over. This is what sets it apart from many recent horror films. Justice has been served.

Black Dynamite
This is such a perfect spoof of blaxploitation films. It is immediately apparent that the filmmakers studied their source material in depth. Hats off to them for doing so. So many recent spoofs don't capture the spirit of the source material. Every single detail of this film was dead on. It is laugh out loud the entire time. Justice is served.

The Cocoanuts
The first Marx Brothers film is a classic. It is full of amazing moments. You could see right off the bat that their chemistry is out of this world. Each of the four Marx Brothers had distinct personalities that somehow meshed perfectly together. The Paramount years for them were a bit more wacky and off the wall. This is a film that all fans of classic comedy should see. This is a great adaptation of their stage play. Justice is served. Why a duck?

Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut
Zack Snyder's vision of this film is the one that should be seen by anyone intending on watching it. This is a drawn out and smart story that is compromised when it is cut down. Snyder's dedication to staying true to the graphic novel is remarkable. When a vision is ruined in the theatrical release, it is really a shame. I know some people who were confused and dissatisfied with the theatrical release. This extended cut fills in all the holes, and shows that this film is a landmark. Justice is served. Justice is coming to all of us...whether we like it or not.

Klaxons: "Landmarks of Lunacy EP"
It's very rarely that a band will release an entire EP to download for free off of their website. A few months ago, Klaxons released extra material that wasn't used on their second LP. The sound is groundbreaking for the band. The songs sound raw and amazing. They are an all around great band, and I think this material could definitely lead to some interesting new paths for the band. Justice has been served for the day.

The National: "Alligator"
The third album from this band is a masterpiece. I usually agree with "Pitchfork Media" on their reviews, but this album only got a 7.9 out of 10. That is actually a high rating for "Pitchfork", but this album is groundbreaking and just quite epic. That may sound over the top, but if you give the album a few listens, you will realize how genius this band is. "Alligator" showcases the band being brilliant. They have had a trend of amazing albums after this one, and their earlier work is quite good also. Justice has been served.

A Shot In The Dark
This is my favorite film in the "Pink Panther" series. Yes, the others have their moments, but this film is spot on the entire time. Peter Sellers is hilarious, and Blake Edwards did some great things with this film. What's odd is that it wasn't supposed to be a Clouseau related film, but Sellers asked Edwards if he could adapt it for the character. This is a laugh out loud funny and very clever film. Justice is served for today.
