Hi, I'm Bryan Kastelan. I felt compelled to make a blog that highlights something each day that I feel is underrated. The objects could be anything. Hope you enjoy and possibly agree with my choices. If not, then hopefully you found something cool to check out that you never heard of. Thanks for checking out my blog!

Billy Zane
I recently saw the "Tales From the Crypt" film, "Demon Knight", and this got a group of my friends asking what ever happened to him because he is an outstanding actor. I read that he has recently been working on some straight to video stuff. I was excited to see that he is going to be working with Christopher Nolan on a project soon. This is possibly the new "Superman" film, and it is rumored that Zane may be playing Lex Luthor. This will hopefully begin a long run of Zane acting on the big screen again. Justice is served.

The Monster Squad
When it comes to who you call for ghosts, everyone knows. When it comes to monsters, not enough people know about the Monster Squad. Made in 1987, it blends together elements from films such as "The Gremlins", and "The Goonies". It does this well though, unlike the awful "Garbage Pail Kids Movie". I was surprised to see a good chunk of the Universal Monsters here. I don't want to give away everyone that shows up here. With actors that you could actually care about, and great cuts, The Monster Squad is a forgotten 80's camp classic Justice is served for today.

Jim Parsons as "Sheldon Cooper"
I'm really glad that he has received an emmy for this character, but more people need to realize how great he really plays this character on "The Big Bang Theory". I am very interested to see where Parsons' career will go. He is a very talented actor. His performance sets the show apart from all other sitcoms in my opinion. This is a show that makes you feel like you are there having fun with them. This is thanks to the perfect ensemble cast. All of the actors are very talented, but Parsons' is just out of this world. Justice is served. Bazinga.

Monty Python's "Life of Brian"
So many people have seen "Holy Grail" and could recite it. Yes, I love that film, but the shock value of the absurdity of the film will be gone for a while. It's time for me to dig back out "Life of Brian". In my opinion, the film is even better than "Holy Grail". I'm sure that people would fight me on that, but I just found myself laughing out loud a lot more. The dialogue is unbelievably funny and the jokes are even more unpredictable. If you haven't seen this one and you enjoy British humor, then I'm sure you will be surprised at how funny it is. It is amazingly overlooked. I would call this a comedic masterpiece. And now for justice completely different.

Junior Boys
It takes a lot of hard work to perfect a sound of a certain time period. This indie duo sound like they are from the 80's. They sound like the coolest thing you ever heard from the 80's actually. They write such amazing stuff. With a new album on the way, hopefully people will appreciate them more. Listen to the songs "Double Shadow" and "Count Souvenirs". And there is today's justice.

Being Human
More people need to catch up with this show that is only on it's third week next week. With an engaging plot and a great Indie soundtrack, this is a must see. The actors are great also. Few shows translate this well from Britain to the U.S., but Being Human pulls it off. So far, this is a smart show that deserves some more hype. Justice has been served.

Banana Nut Crunch Cereal
When asked about the best cereals, this one rarely makes lists. Post Selects get the flavors right. Banana bread is amazing and the fact that a cereal could pull off actually capturing the flavor is even more amazing to me. Yeah, you could say that I enjoy the little things some times, but it sure is a fun way to live. Justice is served for today.

Morning Glory (2010 Film)
When I think about the best movies of 2010, Morning Glory is up there. The film has a great cast that rests upon the shoulders of Rachel Mcadams. She is outstanding here (As usual). I can't believe that this bombed at the box office. I really hope that the film gains popularity when it hits home video. It deserves it because it breaks all of the rules of a female driven comedy. I don't mean to be rude, but tell me that you didn't think this would be a chick flick. McAdams is a hero for everyone. Justice is served.

Pink Floyd "The Final Cut"
Yes, I already talked about this band this month, but I felt compelled to write about both albums. I dismissed this album for so many years because of the topic of war. I listened to it again today and realized that Roger Waters didn't compromise the great hooks of a Pink Floyd album with the topic. This is a solid album all the way around with beautiful chords and messages that you could relate to your real life. Justice is served.

Appletizers
Here is the recipe:
1:Slice apples
2: Warm Kraft American Cheese singles on a soft tortilla shell in a pan.
3: Add the apples to the cheese on top of the shell.
4: Put another tortilla shell on top to make it like a sandwich.
Justice never tasted so good.

Batman Begins
With all of the news regarding the upcoming third installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman series, I felt that people need to see the first one again. Yes, Ledger gave many more people a reason to see "The Dark Knight", but people need to go back and see the first. Even if you have seen it, maybe it hasn't been in a while. Bale and Caine are excellent in this reboot of the series. Don't forget about Cillian Murphy's outstanding performance as the Scarecrow. This movie is outstanding all the way around. There is today's justice.

Community
Wow this show is so clever. The references are non stop. More movie and tv show buffs need to watch this show. The characters are great, and it is fun to see Joel McHale outside of "The Soup". A huge plus to this show is that Chevy Chase is in the main cast as a student. Chase is really underrated himself. He is a comedic genius. The Russo Brothers (The brilliant yet short lived "Arrested Development") deserve this show to continue through the end. The mix of hearfelt moments with laugh out loud ones is perfect. Justice is served for today.

Dwight Frye
It's such a shame that one of the greatest supporting actors of all time had to die of a heart attack at the age of 44. He was right on the verge of a big breakthrough with a role as President Woodrow Wilson. It killed me to read that his fan club has disbanded. It is time for that to reform. He appeared in stage productions on top of his film work. He set the bar high for creepy characters in "Dracula" and "Frankenstein". He also appeared in "The Bride of Frankenstein" as a different character in the series. The deleted scenes need to be found for "Bride" because Frye has a larger role in these scenes. Could we please look through the vaults to locate this footage Universal? Master, justice is served.

Oh No Oh My
Today was the release of this indie band's new album, "People Problems", and it exceeded all of my expectations. They mixed very emotional songs with catchy and amazing hooks. They have always been underrated, but I hope that this album will bring them into the spotlight. Past songs such as "I Have No Sister" had the hooks, but "I Don't Know" off of their new album is one of the greatest songs I ever heard. You have to hear it to know. Justice is served.

Due Date
Perhaps this comedy will become more popular when it hits the shelves, but not many people I know got around to seeing it yet. Todd Phillips has a knack for successfully mixing heartfelt moments with raunchy ones. For me, Due Date did this the best out of all of his films. Many will compare it to "The Hangover", but this is a different type of film that is not always funny in the same ways that "The Hangover" was. It should be set apart. It was fun to see Robert Downey Jr. in a different type of role. It's just a fun movie over all. Justice has been served.

Homer and Langley
This novel by E.L. Doctorow is based on the lives of two brothers that lived through crucial times of 20'th century America. The brothers collected antiques from many eras. The novel takes liberties with the true story of these brothers, but this surprisingly doesn't ruin the book. For example, the book has them live for about 25 more years then they lived in real life. The novel is about how they try to seclude themselves from the outside world, but people keep dropping in on them in their mansion and mingling with them. This keeps them in touch with the changing world outside. The brothers try to make a newspaper that could be found true every day. They cut out newspaper clippings from many eras to try to piece this perfect newspaper together. This is very interesting and moving stuff. Great novel. Justice is served.

Red Eye
When it comes to garbage thrillers, the past decade has been full of them. It's important to sift through and pull out the best ones. Red Eye rises above many for many reasons. Carl Ellsworth provided a great script for Wes Craven to use, and the stars are excellent. Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy are amazing as the leads. They hold the show together with top notch performances. If you dismissed this film in 2005, and never got around to seeing it, it is probably smarter than you thought. I personally prefer this film to "Flight Plan" that came out around the same time. Justice is served for today.

Piccalilli
I forgot about how great this type of relish is. In fact, I know people that hate regualar relish and like this. You could find this at your grocery store for a reasonable price. When the weather gets better to start grilling hot dogs again, maybe you could give this condiment a try. Justice has been served.

Mia Wasikowska
This actress from 2010's "Alice In Wonderland" deserves to be ranked among the best actresses of the decade so far. She was outstanding as a relatable Alice. She was able to actually make me care about the main character. This post regards me also because I didn't see any other movies with her in it yet. I'll have to see them soon because she was very talented in "Alice In Wonderland". Justice is served.

The Old Dark House
This film is far ahead of it's time. It was made in 1932, which was when Universal was at it's horror peak. The thing that makes this film so great is that James Whale (Director of Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein) decided to make somewhat of a spoof. Every scene contains laugh out loud funny jokes that won't be obvious if you are unfamiliar with horror films of the 30's. How smart is that? Not to mention, Karloff is in on the fun also. The spoof style is more along the lines of films such as "Hot Fuzz" that spoof a whole genre rather than make obvious references to films, like movies such as "Vampires Suck" do. This makes the film all the better. Perhaps not many people have seen it because it is harder to get a hold of. "Kino Video" released it on DVD in 1999, and you could find that copy on the internet. This film is groundbreaking and epic. Hopefully it will become more popular to this generation. Justice is served so have a potato.

The Young Veins
When the band "Panic! At The Disco" split up in 2009, half of the band had a different agenda. Jon Walker and Ryan Ross would continue the sound that, in my opinion, made Panic sound better. On Panic's second album, they sounded like a throwback to music of the 60's, such as The Beatles. The two would leave the band to bring this sound to the next level. The Young Veins deserve to be recognized as risk takers. They put their own spin on music of the 60's, and their songs are wonderful. I hope that they will be recognized more, because they really deserve it. This is a breath of fresh air in this era. Listen to their album "Take A Vacation" for proof of how great they are. Justice is served for today.

Pink Floyd: "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn"
The Syd Barrett led era of Pink Floyd was all too brief. With just one full album and some singles from 1966-67, all of his Pink Floyd material is a must for any fan of Pink Floyd, or psychidellic rock itself. During the same period that they recorded this album, the Beatles were recording "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" in the same studio during different times of the day. It is quite astonishing how different the two albums are. This is the beginning of Pink Floyd being so off-color, yet accessible. The song "Flaming" shows Barrett's knack for making wonderful music. It is such a shame that his mental health declined after this album. I will always wonder what the band may have sounded like if Barrett had more time to play around with other musical styles. It's time to take up thy justice and walk.

F. Scott Fitzgerald
There is always an author who's work is undeservingly tarnished by your high school english class. I feel that just reading "The Great Gatsby" in school doesn't give the book justice. It is just amazing how spot on Fitzgerald is at not only capturing an era, but linking that era to today. Try reading his work on your own if you are at all interested in the 1920's. The reward will be great. "The Beautiful and Damned" in particular captures the materialistic age that America is still very much in today. This side of justice is served.

Say Hi
Formerly known as "Say Hi to Your Mom", Eric Elbogen has been releasing music since 2002. He is a brilliant indie song writer that has a knack for making great melodies. Songs such as "Northwestern Girls" and "These Fangs" are just fantastic. For the most part, he backs all of his songs with his own playing. For example, he plays guitar, keyboard, and drums on many songs. With a new album coming out at the end of the month, hopefully more people will catch on to how great he is. Justice has been served.

Public Librairies
When was the last time you were at your public librairy? I'm not preaching for you to read books, but I am just reminding you about all they have to offer. Books, cd's, movies, and internet access for free. This post came about when last night I saw 3 albums that I paid for, at my librairy. And chances are reading would do you good anyways. That's justice to the public.

BNET News
This news division of CBS focuses on providing tips to being a more successful person. If you sign up to receive e-mail updates (www.bnet.com), you could read headlines of possible articles that may apply to you. I usually hate getting email like this, but this stuff is actually very useful. There is a story that is currently there called "How to Face Your Fear and Self Doubt". Just great stuff. Yes, there is justice being served today.

Sunshine Cleaning
Who would have thought that a film about dead people would teach so much about life? More people need to see how great this movie is. Amazing performances by Amy Adams and Emily Blunt. They make the perfect sister pairing. Emily Blunt surprised me because all I had seen her in was The Wolfman remake and her character was classy. She really pulled off her character well. Just a great film. Justice is served.

Edgar Wright
After being 3 for 3 in making great films, Wright should be on the same level as Christopher Nolan when it comes to groundbreaking directors. Hopefully fans of the Scott Pilgrim film will realize that he also directed Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. He is just an amazing filmmaker. It's Edgar Wright Vs. the world. Justice is served.

Joy Division
There are numerous Indie rock groups that owe their style to Joy Division. It is very unfortunate that the band would only release two albums because of the tragic death of Ian Curtis (R.I.P.). It is important to hear the sound that they left for us to hear. Bands such as Editors and Interpol have successfully taken cues from Joy Division. Their two albums should be heard by anyone who loves rock. Justice is served.

Harold Lloyd
His films were groundbreaking and yet he is seldom mentioned when it comes to classic comedians. With so many amazing silent films, his work should be known by a wider audience. "Safety Last" is great with the classic building climbing sequence, but my personal favorite is "Girl Shy". This is, in my opinion, the perfect romantic comedy. Just epic. It's such a clever film that will definitely surprise you. And there's some justice for today.

Suck It Wonder Woman
The full title of this book is "Suck It Wonder Woman: The Misadventures of a Hollywood Geek". The geek here is Olivia Munn. She knows how to be relateable, hilarious, and moving. Her stories are outrageous, but in them you could see someone who understands that stars are just like everyone else when it comes down to it. This is such a fun read. It stays interesting because it is not in chronological order of her life. The book is a collection of highlights that are meaningful. Munn is a very smart author. The beginning of justice in a new year.
